Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sends message to Jack Wilshere as Arsenal exit is confirmed

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has spoken out on recent events at his former club Arsenal.

This month has seen the Gunners complete the signings of Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus and Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen as well as being linked with moves for Lucas Torreira, Ever Banega, Aleksandr Golovin and Stanislav Lobotka. The central midfielder links stem from confirmation that Jack Wilshere will leave the north London outfit once his contract expires on June 30. The midfielder has been with the club for 17 years, but revealed in an emotional Instagram post last week that after speaking with new head coach Unai Emery he will seek a new challenge in the summer which sparked speculation of a move to West Ham United, Besiktas and Crystal Palace. Supporters have had their say on Wilshere's imminent exit and Oxlade-Chamberlain has now weighed in on the matter. The pair were teammates at the Emirates Stadium for six years and the Liverpool star believes Wilshere has what it takes to play at the highest level. “I’ve got every respect for Wilshere, he’s a fantastic footballer, one of the best I’ve played with,” he told talkSPORT. “I wish him all the very best for whatever he does next, and I have every faith that he will make it work and he’ll do well. “He’s a top, top player, he can play at any team in the world, he’s got that sort of ability. He’s played for Arsenal all his life – they are a massive club and he’s always shown he has the ability to play there. “He’s a top player and he can definitely play at the highest level, wherever that may be.” Interestingly, the Merseyside outfit are fourth favourites at 5/1 - behind West Ham, Fenerbahce and AC Milan - with Sky Bet to land Wilshere on a free transfer.
